The Edgecore ASXvOLT16 is a versatile 16-port XGS-PON virtual Optical Line Terminal (vOLT) equipped with 4 fixed 100G/40G QSFP28 ports. Its design positions the 10G ports, 100G uplink ports, and console/management USB ports on the front panel for easy access. The 10G ports deliver wire-speed performance and are compatible with standard XGS-PON transceivers. QSFP28 ports offer flexible configurations, supporting 100G, 40G, 4x25G, or 4x10G modes via DAC breakout cables. The vOLT includes redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and fans, with options for front-to-back or back-to-front airflow.

Key features include cost-effective bare-metal hardware suited for communication service providers, high throughput with Layer 2 or Layer 3 forwarding at 300 Gbps (full duplex), and support for hot/cold aisle deployments. The device ensures reliability with its hot-swappable, load-sharing, redundant AC or -48V DC power supplies, and 5+1 redundant, hot-swappable fan modules. Additionally, it abstracts protocol complexities from the native hardware RPC and comes pre-loaded with diagnostics software and the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) for easy installation of open-source and commercial network operating systems (NOS).
