Switch2Open 100G QSFP28 Transceiver Module not only delivers high-performance data transmission over a distance of up to 2km, designed to be highly versatile and compatible with a wide range of communication standards, protocols, and frequency bands, making it a truly Universal Transceiver. 100GBASE-CWDM4 refers to an Ethernet standard that allows high-speed data transmission over long distances using singlemode fiber optic cables. It is an Ethernet standard specified by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for high-speed data transmission. The “CWDM4” signifies in the context of this standard: C: Stands for “Coarse.” CWDM technology divides the optical spectrum into several relatively wide wavelength bands. In the case of CWDM4, these bands are relatively wide compared to Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), allowing for simpler and more cost-effective transceivers. WDM: Stands for “Wavelength Division Multiplexing.” This technology enables multiple signals to be transmitted simultaneously over a single optical fiber, each using a different wavelength of light. CWDM allows for several channels (each on a different wavelength) to be transmitted over the same fiber optic cable. 4: Represents the number of wavelengths or channels used for data transmission. 100GBASE-CWDM4 uses four different wavelengths for both transmit and receive directions, allowing for a total of eight wavelengths (four for sending data and four for receiving data) to achieve the 100 Gbps data rate. Operating on 1271 nm, 1291 nm, 1311 nm, 1331 nm wavelength via Duplex LC singlemode fiber (SMF), this transceiver ensures consistent and reliable communication. With 3.5 W power consumption and an operating temperature range from 0 to 70°C, this module is an efficient and adaptable choice for data centers, enterprise networks, and service provider.
