OTU4 (Optical Transport Unit 4) is a high-speed optical network standard defined by the ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector). It operates at a data rate of 112 gigabits per second (Gbps) and is part of the OTN (Optical Transport Network) framework. An OTU4 transceiver is an optical module that conforms to the OTU4 standard. It is used in high-capacity optical communication systems, especially in long-haul and metro networks, to transmit and receive data at extremely high speeds. OTU4 transceivers typically use coherent optical technology, enabling them to achieve reliable data transmission over long distances without significant signal degradation.
