The Edgecore AS7312-54X switch is a versatile solution designed for high-performance data centers, functioning as both a Top-of-Rack (TOR) and spine switch. Encased in a compact 1RU form factor, this switch delivers seamless L2 and L3 switching capabilities. It boasts 48 x 25GbE SFP28 ports alongside 6x100GbE QSFP28 ports, allowing for flexible configurations supporting up to 48 x 10/25 GbE and 6 x 40/100 GbE connections. In deployment, the AS7312-54X can serve as a TOR switch facilitating 10/25 GbE connections to servers with 40/100 GbE uplinks. Alternatively, it can operate as a spine switch, enabling 40/100 GbE spine interconnects. This adaptability ensures optimal performance and scalability tailored to the specific needs of the data center environment.

One of the standout features of this switch is its open architecture, powered by the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE). This enables easy installation of compatible Network Operating System (NOS) software, offering a choice between open-source solutions like Open Network Linux and OpenSwitch, as well as various commercial NOS offerings. Such flexibility empowers users to tailor the switch’s functionality to their unique requirements. Highlighted features and benefits of the Edgecore AS7312-54X include its cost-effectiveness as a bare-metal switch infrastructure, supporting the establishment of a robust data center fabric. It supports hot/cold aisle configurations with port-to-power and power-to-port airflow SKUs, ensuring efficient cooling and optimal performance. Additionally, the switch is designed for reliability and ease of maintenance, with hot-swappable, load-sharing, redundant AC or -48V DC PSUs, along with redundant, hot-swappable fan modules. Moreover, energy efficiency is a key focus, with the switch boasting a typical power consumption of 310W without pluggable optics. The hardware comes pre-loaded with diagnostics software and features the ONIE for automated loading of compatible NOS offerings, including Open Network Linux and PicOS from Pica8 Inc.
